just to prove...

...that I make more than desserts at my house.

Tomato picking season is in full force. And once again, I planted way too many tomatoes. So I decided to make Chana Masala. The recipe came from A Homemade Life (remember my post about Macaroons). And I'm probably not done talking about recipes from that book. Delish! Anyway, I probably wouldn't have tried the Chana Masala on my own by just reading the book, but we made some recipes from the book for Cooking Group one night and my friend brought this plus served it with Naan bread (from the frozen section at Trader Joes...seriously so good-thanks for the tip Gaylynn!). I made it for Wes a few nights later and it has been a staple at our household ever since.

The recipe calls for canned whole tomatoes, but I just did it with the fresh ones from the garden. Plus made some tomatoe sauce from the garden tomatoes since canned whole tomatoes come in sauce and the recipe calls for that too. I just couldn't rationalize buying tomatoes when I have a gazillion on my vines.

The finished product is delicious, plus it makes the house smell good while it's cooking and simmering since there are so many wonderful spices it in.
