The first few days of Dieter's life were spent in the hospital or the dr's office (or so it seemed). It may have been rougher on this mom than on Dieter. I was an emotional wreck! He had quite a bad case of jaundice and we ended up at the hospital for light therapy for two nights. The poor little guy had to wear the blinders and he hated every minute of it. We got to take him out every 2 hours for 20 minutes to feed him and then he was back in the "tanning bed".
They only allowed one parent to stay the night, but they were really nice to us on the 2nd night and let Wes stay too. We were the only ones on the light therapy side so there was an extra bed (if that's what you can call the chair we slept in) for Wes to sleep on. Dieter loved having Wes there too. I think this picture is so sweet of Dieter holding on to Daddy's finger. I was so happy when they told us his bilirubin levels had finally come down and we were able to take him home. Each day his coloring is looking better and better.
