Ready to be Inhabited

About a month to go before Dieter is due to arrive and his room is ready for him (minus the mobile that we still haven't hung...i figure he could theoretically survive without the mobile over his crib!).  Dieter's room is the smallest in the house and it used to be the Jen and Wes junk room.  I'm happy to say we removed all of our stuff (except for the few items i'll point out in pictures below that Wes wants to make sure become part of this kid's personality!)  We previously just had the two twin beds in this room.  We didn't want to get rid of them completely so we got the perfect bunk beds at Ikea.  There is even a trundle under the bottom bunk that has one more small mattress.
My brother and sister-in-law gave us this crib way back when we lived in Florida.  They moved to Fort Myers just as their youngest was too big for the crib.  So we took it and have been lugging it around ever since.  I've been tempted to toss it a few times thinking that if we ever needed a crib we could just buy a new one.  I'm glad we didn't toss it.    It was previously just stained an oak color and I ended up painting it navy blue.  I think it turned out really cute.
Exhibit A:  the BYU penant, the bicycle picture, a European Map (not pictured)...all items of Wes.  He is trying to get these few things engrained in Dieter's mind!
Behind the curtain is the closet (now all devoted to Dieter's stuff...it was a task finding places for all of our junk!).   On the shelf are books from when Wes was a little boy.  He is very sentimental and we have a few of his childhood keepsakes in the room.

A train that was once Wes'
Exhibit B:  the baseball on the shelf (Dale Murphy signed it when Wes was a boy...it was Mormon night at an Atlanta Braves game.  Yes, Dieter WILL be a Braves fan!), the Kandinsky art work (i've had since college...to help Dieter be creative!).

I'm not going to say we're ready for him to inhabit the room just yet...Maybe in a couple of more weeks I'll say that!  For now, I'm just saying his room is ready.

His room is so perfect! I can tell you put a lot of work into getting it ready for him and it looks great. I really like the navy blue crib.

Love this! Cant wait to see pics of little Dieter. I hope you are feeling alright. The home stretch is the hardest but it is over before you know it!

Jen! Megan told me about your blog and I've been secretly blog-stalking you for a couple of months. Congrats on your pregnancy! I am SO happy for you and Wes!!! Little boys are so much fun! We're having another boy in November and I can't wait. I love seeing Dieter's room and envisioning you and Wes teaching him about all the things that you both love. The Kandinsky brought back wonderful memories from Vinny! Congrats again and I can't wait to see pics of the little man!
