This is the book club book for August. I read the book, but my mind was somewhere else the entire time I read it. I don't know maybe I have a few bigger things on my mind lately! This book is pretty much a journal/travel log of John L. Stephens. Stephens travels to the Yucatan penisula and uncovers civilizations and artifacts that are mostly unknown to the world in the early 1800's. He has some interesting stories of his travels. He is a little racist, sexist, and any other ist there is! I suppose it was normal for the time period. I'm not sure if I would recommend this book. My mind may change after discussing this with the gals in book club.
