I'm half way done with my reading goal for the year. I really need to push it in to high gear. I don't know how much I'll be reading after baby Dieter arrives. Hopefully, I'll still be able to get in my reading time with a little baby in tow, but I just don't know what to expect.
Anyhow, this book....what did I think of this book? I'm not quite sure why I picked this book to read. I had read his "Atonement" book and I wasn't really in love with his writing style. It is superfluous. This particular book could have been told in about 75 pages instead of the 286. I digress. The story starts with an English Neurosurgeon waking in the early hours of his beloved day off, Saturday. He can't sleep so he goes to his balcony window for fresh air and some thinking time. He plans out his day. It's going to be a great Saturday. The story unfolds with all the things he does on this particular Saturday and it gets a little messy. By the end, he comes into some trouble that is never resolved by the author. I thought the book had potential, but it just never made it quite to its potential. I've learned my lesson to never pick up another Ian McEwan book. Remind me about this if I try!
