Nature's Miracles

Officially it is Spring, but I wish it were just a tad bit warmer.  If it were I think I would have more ambition to play in the dirt.  Over the weekend, there were slots of sunshine that allowed me to go out and clean out my planters and sweep off the patio.  I found the above gem in one of our planter boxes.  I imagine a squirrel hid this walnut in our box hoping to stash it away for another day.  The squirrel won't get much use out of the walnut know unless he was purposely trying to plant a walnut tree!  It's so miraculous that this little nut know what to do when it's planted in a little bit of dirt.
Wes was much more ambitious than I was!  He tilled the ground and planted these beautiful purple potatoes and some red onions.
Miraculously, my chives and mint came back to life.  I thought for sure I had lost them to winter.  Inside I started my herb seeds (basil, lavender, parsley, and cilantro).  Once they grow tall and it is warm enough outside I'll transfer them to pots to make our patio come to life.  I love the anticipation of warmer weather and a new season!
