Museumed Out...

Are you sick of museums yet?  I think I was at this point, which was a real shame because the Hermitage is one of the best art museums in the world.  We had limited time and did a quick walk through of the place.  The Hermitage was where the royalty lived when they weren't at their summer homes.  There is beautiful art in the Hermitage, but I loved seeing the living quarters.
A view from a 2nd floor balcony looking down.
I won't lie...I covet this library.  It's about as big as our entire house.
Me in the Picaso room.  We noticed there are some amazing pieces in the Russian Museums that are probably rarely seen anywhere but Russia.  I liked many of the Picaso pieces that I haven't seen before.
This is the gate entering the Hermitage.
A park over looking one of the rivers, right across the street from the Hermitage.

After the Hermitage we went to another museum (Kunstkammer).  It was the house of Peter the Great's best friend.  It is located just across the river from the Hermitage.  It is now a natural history museum.  It is not for the faint of heart as you will see bottled  human embryos.  One of which includes Siamese twins. Peter the Great was fascinated by science. While touring Holland he came across a scientist that had all these pickled oddities.  He bought the collection and shipped it back to Petersburg, where school children line up to see it today.
