It's nice...for a summer house

Tsarskoe Selo- Catherine's Palace.  It was named in honor of Catherine the Great by her daughter Elizabeth.  It is located outside the city of St. Petersburg.  The setting is gorgeous and the grounds are breathtaking.  The tsars and tsaristas really only used this as a summer home.
It was a beautiful fall Saturday when we visited.  Dwight stood in line to save our spot while the rest of us meandered around the grounds.

 Nice yard, eh?

This little house, is just a place where Elizabeth would entertain guests for dinner.
Wes was so good about reading the tour books and studying up on everything we needed to see.
Mandy and Dwight's kids are adorable!  I loved the pictures on the black and white tiles.
Dash and Sofie as we walked through the gardens.

Inside the palace.  This walking into the great hall.  There is so much gold trim in this palace.  It almost made me dizzy.  Catherine's Palace is most famous for the Amber Room. Unfortunately, they don't allow pictures to be taken in that room.
Dasha must be taking lessons from all the Russian women (they love posing for pictures).  Dasha is such a character!  She and Sofie are in the Great Hall.  That would be a fabulous place for a dance party!
This looked a little odd in this palace.  Sofie asked if this was the princess's t.v.  Cute!
