Mt. Rose 2008

I chose the hike on Saturday that has left me aching in all parts of my body. There is no one to blame but me when I hobble like a little old lady with sore hips, knees, calves, and ankles. Mt. Rose is about 10,750 ft in elevation. The sign says it is only a 9.6 mile round trip hike, but I'm suspicious and will tell you it is about 10.6 miles round trip. The view from top is spectacular. Last year we did it a little earlier in the year and the wind factor made it very chilling. This year, it was a very hot climb until the very top. This year we stayed on top for a while to explore. Wes loves unique rocks. Usually when we get home from a hiking trip, I feel like I'm a mother of a 4 year old who makes her son empty his pockets full of rocks before his pants go in the dirty clothes hamper. The view from the top is amazing. Reno is on one side (not so amazing) and beautiful lake Tahoe is on the other (breathtakingly beautiful).
Picturesque view from the trail.Part of the north side of Lake Tahoe.Beautiful little butterflies all over the top of Mt. Rose.Wes exploring for rocks!
Is it a keeper?
A happy Jenny when it is all over.

I've been to Tahoe once and loved it, so gorgeous! I'm envious, but not of your little old lady syndrome afterwards. They never do fully grow up, do they? Our men I mean. Matt acts like a giddy little child unable to wipe the grin from his face when he's able to go snowmobiling.
