Last week Wes and Bill ventured out on what is now their annual hiking trek, or what I like to call their "man"cation. Last year they did a 3 day hike on the Lost Coast. This year they upped the ante and decided to do a 50 miler in Kings Canyon National Park (Raes Lake Loop). This hike is supposed to take about 5 days since the first 2 days are completely uphill and they rise in elevation to at least 12,000 feet, maybe more (I'm not exactly sure what the elevation was at their starting point, so I don't know how much elevation they gained). As I said, it's supposed to take 5 days to do this hike. These rascals did it in 2 1/2 days. I wasn't expecting them home until Friday. On Wednesday at 1am I got a call that they had finished early and would be home by 4am. I was so excited I couldn't go back to sleep until he was home!
They spotted a baby while eating breakfast one morning.
Flowers at 12,000ft.
His hiking buddy, Bill.
