exploring Napa Valley

We've been meaning to explore Napa Valley for quite some time.   So, on Saturday we set out on a beautiful drive through the many vineyards.
The Jack London State Park is in Sonoma.  The above picture is a the remains of Jack London's dream house.  About a month before he and his wife were set to move in there was a fire and the inside was destroyed.  A few years later Jack London died and his wife didn't try to rebuild the "wolf house".
Jack London requested his ashes be scattered atop a knoll near his dream "wolf house" with a bolder from the house placed on top of the ashes.  His wife's ashes were also scattered here.
The view from the cottage where they lived most of their married life.
The cottage was my favorite part of the estate.  I loved his writing area.  The library was in a room full of windows that overlooked the vineyard.

Jack London spent summer evenings in the back of the cottage.  It is a covered porch with beautiful views.

I love California poppies.  The Jack London garden is covered with them
