the early bird beats the tour bus...Day #2 Norway

We were up with the sun! We walked to the famous Vigelandsparken just as the sun was coming up. This park is famous for all of its sculptures by Gustav Vigeland. The park is huge, but extremely enchanting. There are about 200 sculptures that depict humanity in all its forms. We got to the park at just the right time. As soon as we were done taking all the pictures we wanted of the sculptures, a tour bus arrived and the place seemed to be crowded. On a little island just off Oslo is the Viking ship museum among other things. The Viking Ship museum was a.m.a.z.i.n.g! These boats were believed to be built around 815-820 AD. They are housed in an old church. Once again, we got there just before the tour bus came through. We were able to snap a few pictures without tons of people in the background. A little walk from the Viking ship museum is Fram Museum. The museum was built around the Fram ship that explored the artic and the Antarctic. The ship can be toured on all it levels. Again, we were ahead of the crowds. Germans really love to vacation in Norway. On our walk back to our car, we spotted a car that had a "I heart Sanibel" sticker in the window. (Sanibel is the island off of Fort Myers, FL where Wes used to work...kind of funny!). We also came across a street vendor selling the delicious chocolate covered Belgium waffles. We indulged! By the way, I didn't oink down two at once. I'm holding Wes's....just a FYI.After visiting the sites in Oslo we officially started our road trip through Norway. Our next destination was to be Bergen. Norway has several bodies of water and in the part of the country we were traveling there was a waterfall around each bend. One of the most famous waterfalls is around the city Voss. I haven't seen a picture yet that does this waterfall any justice. It is one of the most beautiful parts of nature I have ever seen. Our pictures of this magnificent place do not capture the slightest bit of this majestic scenery. I wish we would have recorded our time there. Maybe that would have helped.

On one part of our journey the road ended and we had to take a ferry to cross the fjord. It was fun.The scenery of Norway is breathtaking. As we were ending our days journey and trying to find a camping spot, we came across this view.
