Peace, Hope, and Whatever

The year I was born Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Ten years later it was gifted to The 14th Dalai Lama. Thursday morning I turned on my radio and was shocked to learn that our American President of eight months had recieved the award that has been in the hands of so many deserving individuals; Bishop Desmond Tutu, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Elie Wiesel, etc. I was shocked mostly because it made me very aware that this prestigious award just like so many other things in this world come down to political games. Don't get me wrong. I think President Obama has made great strides in bringing the world powers to trust again in the USA. I like how he is striving for bipartisianship. However, this prize, The Nobel Peace Prize, should be based on things done not things hoped to be done. I just feel that the Oslo committee made President Obama a Laureate to sway his decision on what to do in the middle east, Afganistan in particular. But then again, maybe they were right to give it to him. After all, Costco know longer sells milk in those no-good-to-pour-from cartons. At least my small prayer of Hope was answered!

*Thanks Amber for reminding me I needed to write this!
