The past few weeks have really put a damper on my sleeping routine. I'm not complaining about all the sleep roadblocks. My family stays up way too late for my liking, but I never like being the first to sleep when all the family is around. What if I miss out on something?!
Softball games- Wes and I have been on a team this year with some of his co-workers. Our team is horrible, but fun! We play on Tuesday nights and the past few games have started at 9:30pm. By the time we get home and settled for bed, work is literally only hours away. It makes for a very cranky Jenny.

Homemade Oreos- Wes signed up to be in a little bake off at work. Which means I was the one doing the baking. I really didn't mind and I agreed before he signed up for real. I'm all about the fun friendly competition. The only problem is that the cookies were needed on a Wednesday. That's right the day after a late night softball game. It was kind of fun staying up late, but how did I ever do it in college night upon night? Maybe that's why my grades weren't, shall we say stellar?! The cookies turned out real nice, but we didn't win. However, one guy did tell the judging committee that we were robbed.
So this brings us to the wee hours of this morning with strangers jumping our fence. At 4am today I was abrubtly brought from my sleep to the sound of Wes yelling out our bedroom window for the stranger to identify themself. Wes is so big on security, it's almost to the point of paranoia. He also is a very sound sleeper so I was a little suprised that he heard the rustling before I did. The stranger identified himself as a Sacramento Police Officer. They were searching for a person of interest that ran. Apparently, the suspect was hopping fences throughout our neighborhood. The police were all around our house and on the roof looking for this person. It was so crazy! I felt like I was on an episode of COPS (bad boys, bad boys, whatcha goin' to do when they come for you). The police finally left our house and we could hear that they were searching in the backyards of our neighbors. I went in and out of sleep for the next 45 minutes. Finally, at 5:23 we heard the cops yelling "get on the ground" and then realized they caught their suspect. Luckily, it wasn't in our yard, it was one street over. The alarm went off and my day began.

Jen, I literally just tried reaching out for one of your Oreos through my computer screen. You totally should have won. Afterall, you have a history of winning bake-offs. I do recall your "award-winning" brown sugar muffins. Anything you bake is a winner! I'm the same way with sleep as you are. I start to panic if I'm not going to be to bed on time. I just know myself well enough in my ripe old age to know that I will be cranky the next day without a good night's sleep. I'm glad you had fun in Beaver. I love the swimming pool in the back of the truck. That looks so fun for kids.
Why didn't you make those famous wafle cookies that Jeff used to make?
BTW the cops episode makes me so excited to move there-great.
WOW your life is way more exciting than mine, gee and no pictures of the police i am a little suprised. Jen in regards to your oreo cookies they are always a winner with us.:)
How did we stay up so late? I've tried and can't do it anymore! Glad to hear it's just not me!
That is crazy, I can't believe it!! And I thought FL was dangerous, ha ha.
Sorry your cookies didn't win, you know I think they are awesome, and Will would agree too!
scary, fun, and food they are always the late night culprits.
I too am sad we missed each other in Beaver, we can't let that happen again. I had planned on going down to say hi after church on sunday but then Holly told me you had left first thing that morning. Like I said, lets not let that happen again. Thank goodness for blogging - I love to read whats going on with you and look at all your geat pictures.
